BenQ wants to have a smartphone running on operating system: Google’s Android in 2010. This is confirmed by an BenQ representative.The Taiwanese company hopes to market the smartphone next year, as it need to rebuild BenQ name in mobile industry.

This news adds BenQ to the list of companies that are planning to make smartphones running Android platform and not classic Microsoft Windows. Android is a operating system developed by Google for smartphones to make Web browsing easy and communications, and most important to access Google apps like Gmail, Gtalk and Google Maps.

The company has been in a few years ago a global competitor in the mobile industry, but after the acquisition of Siemens has lost market share.
